Facial Cooling Globes

September 08, 2020

Sephora Collection Facial Cooling Globes are a must have. Feeling a little puffy after a night of wine or had too much salt lately - You need these facial cooling globes to reduce puffiness and refresh your complexion.

For best results, keep the cooling facial globes in the fridge, so they're nice and cold. The cooling sensation from the globes reduces the appearance of puffiness AND feels amazing. DO NOT put them in the freezer.

The globes are small and easy to roll around the contours of your face and neck. You can use these globes with a light eye cream, facial serum and neck cream.

The small globes come in a compact box that fits in your tote for on-the-go facials. No fridge, no problem - Just place the globes in super cold water for 10 minutes. As you glide the globes around your face they will become less cool and that's when you know you've done enough.

I like to start with my under eyes and glide the globes upwards. Then my face (always upwards) and for my forehead, I start between my eyebrows and glide the globes up and out in an arch shape motion. I also place the globes on the inner eye lids for about five seconds and then glide outwards to reduce my puffy eyelids.

These little cooling facial globes have landed a permanent spot in my beauty routine. Sephora Collection facial cooling globes retail for $25. I'm gonna buy these globes for all the ladies in my life..

Sephora Collection X OLLY

October 09, 2019

Sephora Collection X OLLY gummies are chewable supplements comprised of all the right stuff to promote healthy skin, lustrous hair and relaxation. The expert blend of antioxidants, minerals, superfoods and vitamins aid your body and contribute to your healthy lifestyle.

Sounds positive, but the calorie intake?! If you take two of each - Lustrious Hair, Skin Detox, Glowing Skin and Radiant Sleep, you will consume 150 calories per day. As someone who's "currently" counting calories, sugar intake and carbs, these little gummies are packing too much weight for me.

Albeit, the Sephora Collection X OLLY gummies appear to have a good dose of the necessary supplements to aid in whatever you're trying to achieve - hair growth, radiant skin or to sleep better at night.

I should mention that I have a vexing case of insomnia and I score high on the stressed RTFO scale. SO, I have zero expectations for the Radiant Sleep gummies. It would take a mild sedative to calm me down and put me to sleep. I'm gonna give the Radiant Sleep gummies to someone with less issues!

I'm no expert, but after a few minutes researching online, I'm concluding that these gummies are comprised of the same antioxidants, minerals, superfoods and vitamins that you would find in similar supplements. The Lustrous Hair does however have 8333% of the suggested daily Biotin intake. Hmm.. I'm sure it's safe - It's Sephora.

The Lustrous Hair tastes like sweet grapefruit, the Radiant Sleep like blackberry and mint, the Skin Detox has a similar flavor of berries and mint and the Glowing Skin tastes like blueberry and pomegranate (essentially, it also tastes like berries). These gummies are TOO SWEET. I'm a salty kinda girl, so two of each supplement is asking a lot of me.

I realize making tasty chewable gummies or candy supplements is a great way to get people to take vitamins, but does it have to be sweet? I vote for vitamin-enriched chips. Not dehydrated fruit and veggie chips - I want salty, ruffle chips.

I'll slowly get through these gummies and probably share, but the Sephora Collection X OLLY supplements are too sweet and the calorie intake is too high. I'd prefer to swallow a giant flavorless vitamin.

Peppermint Salt Scrub

June 21, 2019

I've been super stressed lately and scratching my head. It's a terrible, unruly habit - A scalp scrub and detox is necessary. I usually do a scrub on my scalp once a month, but as of late, have been using a scalp scrub once a week.

The Sephora Collection Peppermint Hair Cleansing Salt Scrub is my new favorite scalp treatment. The peppermint scent is refreshing and the deep cleanse restores your hair and scalp balance.

This inexpensive, detoxifying shampoo gets to the root of damaged hair and restores your scalp. The peppermint scent is natural and subtle. Natural peppermint is known for it's purifying properties and refreshing qualities.

This is a scalp scrub and has a salty texture, but lathers and replaces your regular shampoo. First apply to your scalp and work your way through your hair to eliminate product build-up and environmental aggressors.

When paired with water, this scrub does feel a little oily. I know - why use oil to combat an oily issue. It works! Oil-pulling is commonly used to combat oily skin and even whiten your teeth.

After using this product, my itching subsides for a few days. Albeit, it's a stress-related habit, so no haircare product is going to completely solve my issue. This Sephora Collection Peppermint Hair Cleansing Salt Scrub has landed a permanent spot in my haircare routine.

Charming Cosmetics

March 29, 2019

I'm addicted to cosmetics! Even though my Cosmocube is overflowing and my beauty studio stash (products awaiting photos and reviews) is abundant, I can't control the need to peruse the online Sephora store OFTEN. The Just Arrived section is the latest and greatest lineup at the cosmetic Mecca of the world.

With transparent bags trending this Spring/Summer, attractive products and accessories are a must. Here's a few fun items that will brighten up your summer.. Of course, everything is pink - I'm obsessed!

I'm a HUGE fan of the Sephora Collection. The cosmetics typically cost less then most brands, but maintain a high-quality standard. There's always new products in the just arrived section online and currently 500+ items to peruse.

This Sephora Collection Love You Beary Much Retractable Brush is super cute. It's the perfect gift for a budding amateur and their little girl makeup kit AND for an expert with a free-spirited, cute sense of style.

This charming bear has a a retractable swivel brush that allows you to control the amount of bristles used and thus create a number of brush styles. The rounded bristles are dense and super soft.

Just remove the bears head, push down on the plastic column and apply blush, bronzer and powder foundation. I suppose you could use this brush to apply liquid foundation, but it's gonna leave a mess inside the bears head.

This delightful design also includes two tiny brushes in the bears stomach - so cute! The small angled brush and spoolie are great for shaping and enhancing your eyebrows. This plastic bear case isn't gonna fit in my everyday cosmetic bag, but the two little brushes are the perfect mini-size.

The Love You Beary Much retractable brush is made from plastic and is lightweight. It's a little challenging to get the white door open the first few times, but the cute bear head removes easily and pops back on nicely. LOVE!

YES! This ionic technology blowdryer has a vanilla-scented infuser that exudes a sweet scent while you blow-dry your hair. It's BRILLIANT! The Sephora Collection Sweet Scents Perfume Infusing Blowdryer contains a removable "Sweet Bunny" infuser that looks like a cartoon bunny and smells delicious. LOVE!

The vanilla scent reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake (the doll). It's pleasant, BUT super-strong. I'm popping Advils while I type this review! If you are sensitive, you can remove the vanilla scent "Sweet Bunny", but that would kinda defeat the purpose?!

I hope this innovative tool is a success and Sephora Collection releases new "Sweet Bunny" scents. Coconut and chocolate are at the top of my list - HINT HINT..

The lightweight dryer is foldable and has an ultra-quiet 110V DC motor. The handle is ergonomically correct and comfortable to hold. AND, there is a multi-step switch for drying options. This gentle ionic dryer comes with a pouch and is great for travel.

The plastic design feels a little cheap, but what it lacks in quality, it makes up for cute, innovative design. This pink and white, vanilla infused hairdryer is PERFECT for a little girl or an immature big girl! Ladies and gents obsessed with pink and child-like products - don't be offended, keep doing you and enjoy your vanilla scented hair..

In addition to the velvet-like travel bag, there is also a cute scrunchie in the box. The black hair tie has pink polka dots and two structured bunny ears. Super cute! My Toy Poodle, Teddy, loves hair ties - this one will keep him busy for hours!

I was shopping for facial rollers (rose quartz, jade..) and came across this Kaja Roller Glow Roll-on Highlighting Balm. The fun, unique design includes a rectangular pot of pearlescent pink highlighter and two mini, hygienic paint rollers. It's super cute and an effective way to apply highlighter to your body.

The case is plastic and a pretty magenta shade. Enclosed is a mirror and and one roller applicator that snaps on to a plastic door that separates the sponge from the highlighting balm. There is also an extra mini paint roller in the box.

The kit is little pricy, but there is a lot going on inside the box and the design is super-fun! This product is the perfect gift for a little girl experimenting with makeup - Or anyone addicted to cosmetics, pink and has a light sense of humor.

The cream-to-powder highlighter consists of ultra-reflective pigments of pearlescent pink with a golden undertone. The roll-on result is subtle and perfect against pale or slightly sun-kissed skin. This little paint roller is great for applying an even layer of highlighter to your arms and décolletage.

The sample photo on sephora.com are misleading - the product is super-subtle and you'd have to apply a ridiculous amount to get the result in the photo.

The brush is small enough to roll along your cheekbones, but I prefer a tool that allows for more concise application. If you like the sparkle in this highlighter, I suggest using your finger to apply the duo-chrome product.

The Cosmic Laundry color is super-reflective - There is a lot of sparkle in this cream-to-powder balm. The product blends nicely. The Kaja Roller Glow isn't gonna replace my go-to highlighters, but the concept is cute and I had fun sharing my product review with you..

Latest Lip Loves

June 20, 2018

Lipstick, lip balms, lip exfoliators, lip treatments.. I'm addicted to lip'stuff'! It's not even possible to use everything in my giant Cosmocube, but I just cant help myself. My latest lip loves are the perfect summer shades and a new nourishing balm.

Too Faced quickly became one of my favorite cosmetic brands this year. I purchased everything from the Peach collection and now I'm addicted. This Too Faced Peach Beach lipstick is the perfect coral shade. The color enhances sun-kissed skin and gives a pop of flirty, summer color. It's not bright (or florescent - like some), but rather a subtle coral.

The creamy product glides on nicely and feels like it's nourishing your lips. The scent is kinda strange and off-putting (oh, and it lingers). I think they were going for a peach scent, but I'm confused by the outcome? Albeit, I still love the color and the texture is nice.

The packaging is attractive, solid and goes well with my Pat McGrath Labs Lip Fetish Lip Balm..

Since Sephora discontinued my favorite Kiss Me lip balm, I've been on the hunt for a balm just a good (it's been a struggle). I've purchased a few great ones, but everything pales in comparison to the Kiss Me Balm.

Pat McGrath Labs Lip Fetish Lip Balm is definitely a contender for the favorite title. The packaging is great, solid and I love the gold-tone lips embellishment. The barely-there scent is subtle (I like that). The balm is creamy (I can feel a little wax), lightweight and feels nice. It's lighter than most balms I've tried, but you can feel the product on your lips.

The Sephora Collection #lipstories lipstick lineup currently consist of 40 thoughtfully packaged shades in matte, metallic and satin finish. I love the decorative tubes. They're small and each one dons art representing adventures around the world. The packaging itself seems a little cheap, but don't be fooled - the lipstick is good quality.

I'm a nude, peach and coral lipstick kinda girl. I rarely sway from my go-to shades, but if you love trying new colors, this collection is perfect. The lipsticks are inexpensive and small. You won't feel terrible if you dislike the color and toss it.

I purchased satin finish 03 OUI! (cream finish) and 06 Tan Lines (cream finish). These shades are perfect for my skin tone. They are lightweight and still give you full-coverage. 03 OUI! is a pale rose tone and 06 Tan lines is more nude with a little hint of peach. The lipstick goes on nicely and doesn't dry out your lips. I always apply a nourishing lip balm minutes before applying lipstick (you should try this method).

Both lipsticks have a fruity scent, so I'm assuming they all do. I'm not a scented lipstick fan, but could it be worse and smell like flowers! YES, they're are floral scented lipsticks! YUCK!

I'm a fan of the Sephora Collection #lipstories lipstick collection. Sephora - PLEASE stop discontinuing our favorites and bring back the Kiss Me Balm!

Barely There Eye Shadow

March 18, 2018

I'm a no-makeup makeup kinda girl. The first and last time I swayed from my barley there eye makeup routine, I applied blue mascara AND had a severe allergic reaction to the blue dye! Back to my skin-tone eye shadows and black mascara... I love nude eye shadow palettes, but they usually contain darker shades for a smokey look and I rarely go beyond a dark skin-toned eye shadow. All my eye shadow palettes are slowly withering in my Cosmocube. Albeit, I'm still addicted to eye shadow palettes and have too many! I'm more inclined to purchase single eye shadows and create my own perfectly nude palette.

My barley there eye makeup routine consists of seven pink-toned and skin-toned eye shadows, maybe a little sparkle and lots of layers. BUT, first prep + prime is essential. I'm obsessed with eye creams. I use Benefit Cosmetics It's Potent! Eye Cream or Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Eye Cream under my concealer and shadows, and Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream in the AM - yes, I have a wakeup and refresh skincare routine and then a prep + prime for makeup application routine. For anti-aging, I use Neocutis Lumiére Bio-restoraive Serum Powered by PSP and Neocutis Lumiére Eye Cream with PSP before bed. This stuff is amazing!

The Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Eye Cream To Go is compact and the doe-foot applicator is super soft. The hydrating eye cream is light, silky and the perfect under-makeup moisturizer. Your under-eye area feels smooth and refreshed. This 6 ml travel size lip gloss-like tube (limited edition) is convenient and perfect for travel. I prefer this on-the-go applicator over the original Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Eye Cream pot.

Primers are essential to an even skin-tone. Yes, your eyelids need a little primer too. Laura Mercier Eye Basics eyelid primer is like foundation for your eyelids. This primer is available in six shades - even a pale blue to brighten your lids. The foundation-like primer is creamy, conceals discoloration and creates the perfect base for eye-makeup. Eyelid primer is a must-have for the perfect nude(ish) look.

Back to my perfectly procured list of barely there shadows. I have to admit, I'm not a huge M.A.C fan, but the pink and skin-tone eye shadow selection is vast. The on-trend shades are gorgeous and the pigmented eye shadows last all day on your lids. I typically start with the lightest shade, apply pink-tone eye shadow to my lids and then two darker shades at the outer corner of my eyelids and in the crease. The final look is subtle, but makes my eyes appear uniform and brighter.

Apply Brulé satin eye shadow all over (up to your brow), Orb satin eye shadow all over (up to your brow), Malt matte eye shadow from the crease to your lashes, Grain satin eye shadow along the crease and blend Arena satin eye shadow from the outer corner and along the crease. Gorgeous! The subtle layers create dimension and elevate your natural, no-makeup makeup look.

I have been a fan of Sephora Collection eye shadows for years. The selection 'was' vast, the eye shadows are inexpensive and the pink-toned shades met my eye-makeup needs. There doesn't seem to be a big selection of the Colorful shadows anymore? Sephora still creates beautiful shadow palettes, but the single eye shadows are becoming obsolete. Bummer, cause I love the Sephora Colorful luster matte shadow in Desert Rose. The light pink shade is perfect for those 'I don't have time for makeup' days.

The Sephora Colorful glitter eye shadow in Walking in the Sand is a similar pink shade but has a little sparkle. I use this eye shadow to highlight the center or inner corner of my lids. This one is on sale at Spehora.com - Imma stock up.

I kinda wish I was aware that Sephora is discontinuing the Colorful eye shadow collection before I included two of my favorites in this list, BUT you can use these shades as a reference.. AND, it takes forever to shoot and edit these photos - Sephora Colorful eye shadows shall remain on my perfectly procured barely there eye makeup list.

Sephora Stuff

October 25, 2017

Every now and then I'll sift through the Sephora Collection products lineup in search of new, unique cosmetics and tools. I always find good stuff. AND the Sephora brand prices are inexpensive compared to other brands featured at the store and on-line. These are my most recent finds..

Sephora Lineup Makeup Tape is the perfect solution to 'my' eye-makeup application needs. I'm terrible at applying eye-liner and usually opt to go bare, but this tape makes it so much easier to get a straight line and avoid smudging. This medical-grade tape is hypoallergenic and easy to remove. You an also use this tape for nail art.

Sephora Brush it Off Cleansing Brush Wipesgently remove residue and dirt from your makeup brushes. These wipes come in individually packets - great for travel. The non-alcohol based formula is kinda oil-like, but doesn't leave residue on your brushes. These wipes are not for cleaning your brushes, but for a quick wipe to remove the surface dirt.

TheSephora Brush Meets Comb Hair Brush Cleaneris a great little tool. The rake-like comb has flexible, steel bristles that remove hair and residue. I'm a little obsessed with keeping my hair brushes clean - Drives me nuts to see brushes full of hair - GROSS! Attention people who don't clean your brush regularly - there's dirt buildup, residue from products and bacteria festering in there. AND each time you brush your strands you're transferring that nastiness back onto your hair. CLEAN YOUR HAIR BRUSHES OFTEN.

Sephora Do It All Cotton Swabs are perfect for a multitude of makeup needs. There are 490 swabs of three unique precision tips per pack. The oval tip is great for basic needs, while the pointed tip is ideal for precise application.

These swabs are great for makeup removal/cleanup around the eyes. I wet them, and gently remove mascara that has smudged onto my upper lash line and waterline. SO much easer than using a regular cotton swab. Large cotton swabs are of course too big for this area, and the little cotton hairs always attach to my lashes. NO MORE! These swabs can also be used for smudging eyeliner, smoothing lipstick and lipliner edges, and removing nail polish from your cuticles. A must-have!

Brightening, Setting, Retouching..

November 09, 2016

Brightening, Setting, Retouching.. And this is after you've applied foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush.. As I age, my multitude of skin issues are more apparent and that means more product. Often, too much has the adverse effect and you end up looking like a art project gone wrong, but setting powders is a necessary step to perfect makeup.

After applying topical medication (rosacea), serums, moisturizer, corrective creams, and sometimes foundation, my face is rather shiny. Thanks to my 'angry', combination skin, I'm having to deal with an oily complexion too. Bobbi Brown White Skin Correcting Powder is meant to 'brighten and illuminate' fair skin tones, but I use it to slightly mattify my look. It's the last step in my makeup routine, but if I'm having one of those 'dry' days, the powder will magnify my dehydrated skin. Decisions - oily or flakey?

I apply Bobbi Brown Skin Correcting Powder in peach to add a little warmth to my complexion. Focusing my cheeks, this subtle shade looks great on my super-fair skin. I don't feel like either of these retouching powders are drastically enhancing my makeup, but Bobbi Brown is about subtlety!

Move over BB, there's newbies in the Cosmocube! Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is like magic fairy dust. The transparent powder is formulated with light-reflecting micronized pigments that illuminate your under eye area while setting your concealer. Apply concealer, blend with a damp beautyblender, be sure there's no creasing, dab your damp makeup sponge into the powder and lightly pat it onto your under eye area. Too much is ok - it will settle and you can sweep off the excess product in a few. AMAZING results! My concealer is set, there's little-to-no creasing and my under eye area appears significantly brighter. LOVE!

The mint green tint of Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder tones down redness (I NEED THAT) while reducing shine. The 'Shine Control Complex' gives you a shine-free, fresh, mate finish - a much-needed addition to my cosmetic bag for on-the-go touchups. While we're on the topic of green - Sephora Collection Bright Future Color Correctors are super light and great for combating discoloration, blemishes.. I use the green shade to neutralize the redness on my nose. The formula is lightweight and blends nicely.

Sephora Sheet Masks

August 11, 2016

I'm dedicated to trying each mask in the Sephora collection. I really like the natural fiber eye masks and the line has expanded to include a lip masks, face masks, hand masks and a foot mask (I'm excited about that one). Yesterday was 'mask' day..

The Shea lip mask is a jelly-like, lip shaped mask that fits over the lips. The mask has an opening, so you can breathe easily and I guess talk if you had to. The texture is super strange and it does tingle a little. The mask is over-sized - anyone with lips that big, should really ease up on the fillers! The Shea lip mask is said to nourish and moisturize in 15 minutes. You can wear it sitting, standing, walking around, and it doesn't slide or drip. After 15 minutes, I removed the mask, wiped the access from my skin and left the remaining on my lips. DO NOT LICK YOUR LIPS - it doesn't taste good. Post application your lips feel a little sticky, but they appear moisturized. Jelly-like feeling aside, I like it. I'm definitely gonna repurchase during the cold season, when my lips are dry and chapped.

The Orchid eye mask scent is subtle and lovely (like a flower). My rosacea didn't flare up, but I had a little irritation around the outer edge. It's common for my skin to react to products. My under eye felt a little tighter, but I didn't see dramatic results from the one-time use. The Orchid eye mask is for anit-aging and smoothing, and like any anti-aging product, you need to use it for months, before you'll see any great results.

The hand masks are fun and my favorite. There are two, non-drip hand gloves in a pack. When you open the packet, you'll notice the gloves are attached - tear at the perforated line, put them on, and pull the tabs around your wrist to seal in the moisturizing treatment. The inside has a fiber lining drenched in solution and the outside a plastic lining. Best thing about these masks is you can go about your business while wearing them (I vacuumed my house). The Aloe Vera hand mask is for ultra-moisturizing and beautifying (beautifying?). The fresh scent is amazing and the concept of a moisturizing glove is great. After use, my cuticles appeared nourished and my hands felt soft. I will repurchase and can't wait to try the foot mask.

Bamboo Charcoal

February 01, 2016

Bamboo charcoal can be used for many things: purifying water, brushing your teeth, as well as cleansing your body, face and exfoliating. Bamboo charcoal has strong absorbing properties that draw toxins from your skin (hence the purifying water). It is said that cleansing with bamboo charcoal removes impurities from your skin, giving you a soft, improved appearance. I have been using the bamboo charcoal exfoliating body sponge by Sephora twice a week, for five weeks, and can't say I've seen any improvement. Yes, I feel like it's lightly exfoliating, but my body pouf provides the same sensation. Is it drawing toxins from my skin? I honestly don't know, but I can't see a difference in my skin. If you are a 'bamboo charcoal' believer, then maybe this product is for you, but I'm not jumping on the bamboo charcoal movement just yet.

I've read many reviews about the bamboo charcoal body sponge falling apart. It does say on the packaging that the sponge must be handled with care. This cleansing sponge is very delicate, so wrap your hand around one side while exfoliating your body in circular motions with the other side. Gently drain the sponge of access water by squeezing with both hands (do not twist). I have not experienced any breakage and my sponge is still completely intact.
