My Must-Haves - Pandemic 2020

May 04, 2020

My usual Must-Haves list is comprised of designer clothing and accessories that I have-to-have or am lusting over and can't afford. These days, the must-have items on my list are necessary beauty products during a pandemic. Never thought I'd say that!

I'm sensitive to scents and hate the smell of hand sanitizer, but it's a necessary product to have on hand! I was so happy when NCLA Beauty launched a small lineup of Hands Clean sanitizer available in lavender, eucalyptus, watermelon and unscented. You can pre-order these little bottles of hand sanitizer at Revolve.

I got lip fillers (and botox) a few days before the stay-at-home order came into effect AND my lips are perfect - BUT, now I have to wear a face mask. Enough said! I'm happy to see many of my favorite clothing brands producing face masks - I know the quality is there. I pre-ordered three cute GRLFRND masks at Revolve

The best place to order cheeky, cloth face masks is Etsy. You can also order personalized masks. If you want a hefty mask with replaceable filters, there are many online stores to choose from. I believe face masks will be around for a while and everyone should have at least one.

It seems like many people are struggling with DIY beauty these days. Most rely on hair, nail and tanning salons to keep their beauty in check. Fortunately, I prefer to do my own gel nails and apply self tanner at home. I do however get my hair colored every three weeks and had to learn a new skill during these unusual times.

dpHUE is my go-to hair coloring brand. The dpHUE root touch-up kit is easy to use, the color is perfect and the solution completely covers roots (even greys). Paired with the dpHUE gloss, this color touch-up duo is perfect for someone who requires single process coloring. I posted a lengthy DIY root touch-up video a few weeks ago - Scroll down a little..

Another necessary step in most beauty routines is waxing or threading the upper lip and eyebrows. The Tweezerman Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover is an excellent DIY threading tool. You simply twist the handles, while gliding the coil spring along your upper-lip. It's painful, but does a great job removing unwanted hair. You can purchase this Tweezerman beauty tool at Sephora.

Being able to do your own nails is a necessary skill to have. You never know when your go-to salons (and the entire world) may close for months!

I was introduced to gel nails a few years ago and went to the salon four times before deciding to do it myself. I purchased gel polish in a variety of nude shades, base and top coat polish, remover, foils and an LED nail lamp. My go-to brand is CND.

I recently discovered Static Nails. The lineup includes reusable press-on nails (I gotta try these) and long-wear polish that promises to last up to 10 days. The shades are gorgeous and it seems like either one would be easier than applying/removing gel polish. Of course, I have a few items in my cart!

Admittedly, I like tanning beds. BUT, the last place I wanna be is baking inside a horizontal UV radiation bed that someone else just laid in. SO, I'm going back to DIY self-tanning. My go-to brand is St. Tropez. I've been using it for years. BUT, as of late, I'm experimenting with new brands. I'm going to apply Luna Bronze Self Tanning Lotion later today..

This process takes a little practice. I suggest purchasing a light color, a tanning mitt and body exfoliator. Read the instructions carefully and stay away from water and excessive activities that will make you sweat for at least 6 hours.

Applying self-tanner is a quick way to enhance your stay-at-home skin. On the bright side, if you screw it up, nobody will see it - Unless you post pics.

Charming Cosmetics

March 29, 2019

I'm addicted to cosmetics! Even though my Cosmocube is overflowing and my beauty studio stash (products awaiting photos and reviews) is abundant, I can't control the need to peruse the online Sephora store OFTEN. The Just Arrived section is the latest and greatest lineup at the cosmetic Mecca of the world.

With transparent bags trending this Spring/Summer, attractive products and accessories are a must. Here's a few fun items that will brighten up your summer.. Of course, everything is pink - I'm obsessed!

I'm a HUGE fan of the Sephora Collection. The cosmetics typically cost less then most brands, but maintain a high-quality standard. There's always new products in the just arrived section online and currently 500+ items to peruse.

This Sephora Collection Love You Beary Much Retractable Brush is super cute. It's the perfect gift for a budding amateur and their little girl makeup kit AND for an expert with a free-spirited, cute sense of style.

This charming bear has a a retractable swivel brush that allows you to control the amount of bristles used and thus create a number of brush styles. The rounded bristles are dense and super soft.

Just remove the bears head, push down on the plastic column and apply blush, bronzer and powder foundation. I suppose you could use this brush to apply liquid foundation, but it's gonna leave a mess inside the bears head.

This delightful design also includes two tiny brushes in the bears stomach - so cute! The small angled brush and spoolie are great for shaping and enhancing your eyebrows. This plastic bear case isn't gonna fit in my everyday cosmetic bag, but the two little brushes are the perfect mini-size.

The Love You Beary Much retractable brush is made from plastic and is lightweight. It's a little challenging to get the white door open the first few times, but the cute bear head removes easily and pops back on nicely. LOVE!

YES! This ionic technology blowdryer has a vanilla-scented infuser that exudes a sweet scent while you blow-dry your hair. It's BRILLIANT! The Sephora Collection Sweet Scents Perfume Infusing Blowdryer contains a removable "Sweet Bunny" infuser that looks like a cartoon bunny and smells delicious. LOVE!

The vanilla scent reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake (the doll). It's pleasant, BUT super-strong. I'm popping Advils while I type this review! If you are sensitive, you can remove the vanilla scent "Sweet Bunny", but that would kinda defeat the purpose?!

I hope this innovative tool is a success and Sephora Collection releases new "Sweet Bunny" scents. Coconut and chocolate are at the top of my list - HINT HINT..

The lightweight dryer is foldable and has an ultra-quiet 110V DC motor. The handle is ergonomically correct and comfortable to hold. AND, there is a multi-step switch for drying options. This gentle ionic dryer comes with a pouch and is great for travel.

The plastic design feels a little cheap, but what it lacks in quality, it makes up for cute, innovative design. This pink and white, vanilla infused hairdryer is PERFECT for a little girl or an immature big girl! Ladies and gents obsessed with pink and child-like products - don't be offended, keep doing you and enjoy your vanilla scented hair..

In addition to the velvet-like travel bag, there is also a cute scrunchie in the box. The black hair tie has pink polka dots and two structured bunny ears. Super cute! My Toy Poodle, Teddy, loves hair ties - this one will keep him busy for hours!

I was shopping for facial rollers (rose quartz, jade..) and came across this Kaja Roller Glow Roll-on Highlighting Balm. The fun, unique design includes a rectangular pot of pearlescent pink highlighter and two mini, hygienic paint rollers. It's super cute and an effective way to apply highlighter to your body.

The case is plastic and a pretty magenta shade. Enclosed is a mirror and and one roller applicator that snaps on to a plastic door that separates the sponge from the highlighting balm. There is also an extra mini paint roller in the box.

The kit is little pricy, but there is a lot going on inside the box and the design is super-fun! This product is the perfect gift for a little girl experimenting with makeup - Or anyone addicted to cosmetics, pink and has a light sense of humor.

The cream-to-powder highlighter consists of ultra-reflective pigments of pearlescent pink with a golden undertone. The roll-on result is subtle and perfect against pale or slightly sun-kissed skin. This little paint roller is great for applying an even layer of highlighter to your arms and décolletage.

The sample photo on sephora.com are misleading - the product is super-subtle and you'd have to apply a ridiculous amount to get the result in the photo.

The brush is small enough to roll along your cheekbones, but I prefer a tool that allows for more concise application. If you like the sparkle in this highlighter, I suggest using your finger to apply the duo-chrome product.

The Cosmic Laundry color is super-reflective - There is a lot of sparkle in this cream-to-powder balm. The product blends nicely. The Kaja Roller Glow isn't gonna replace my go-to highlighters, but the concept is cute and I had fun sharing my product review with you..

..Toodles 2018

December 30, 2018

..TOODLES 2018. It was a rough one emotionally, but my beauty exploration and fashion addiction survived the madness and remained strong and exciting! I'm heading into 2019 with a new attitude towards health and beauty. My shoe and handbag addiction will probably continue to be ridiculous (by some standards), but 2018 has taught me to make changes, embrace new brands and get creative with my style and makeup.

My biggest obsession is sunglasses. I purchased too many Chloé sunglasses this year! MIU MIU sunnies recently took over my looks, but Chloé reigns supreme on my sunnies shelf.

I just snagged these MIU MIU star embossed sunglasses and Swarovski crystal embellished sunglasses and glasses chain at Holt Renfrew in Toronto. LOVE! I'll be seeing stars in 2019!

My personal style remains the same - chic joggers and sock-style boots with printed t-shirts and sweatshirts. My favorite clothing brands are 3.1 Phillip Lim, Fenty X Puma, Tularosa, GRLFRND, Mother, Spell & The Gypsy Collective, For Love & Lemons, Monrow sweatpants , Karl Lagerfeld and Fiorucci (t-shirts and sweatshirts) and Nation LTD (to name a few).

My infatuation with designer shoes and handbags remains expensive! Louis Vuitton handbags are still taking over my collection. I finally found myself an LV sales representative in New York and she's fabulous. Some LV bags are impossible to get (unless you have a rep). She snagged me a Summer Trunk tote and Time Trunk Alma handbag as soon as they hit the sales floor. She's my handbag fairy!

After a five year hiatus, Gucci has made a comeback in my collection. My husband tracked down a Gucci bag I had been coveting for months and gave it to me for our 10 year anniversary. Best gift a girl could get! AND, of course, I'm still a Chloé girl and LOVE Chloé handbags.

I LOVE BOOTS! I'm still rocking Fendi Rockoko and Yeezy sock-style boots. I purchased too many Adidas sneakers in 2018, got some Chloé boots and a new pair of Fendi fur slides (possibly the best purchase of 2018). I'm looking forward to summer, so I can strut around in my mew Fendi slides.

Another year gone and while I spent most of my time shopping and exploring new beauty products, my go-to brands remain the same. For anti-aging, Neocutis is my favorite. I got a mini fridge for Christmas and am keeping my Neocutis products in there. Applying cold eye and face creams is new to me and I love it! AND, I still love Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Face Cream (great for calming rosacea) and Extra Eye Repair Cream.

My favorite make-up brands list has changed a little. Benefit Cosmetics, Too Faced, Dior and beautyblender reign supreme in my Cosmocube. Oh and there's a few KKW Beauty products in there too - love the brushes. My long-time favorites, Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier are still taking up some real estate in the cube.

I still get IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Treatment) and Clear + Brilliant laser Treatment. These two combined leave my skin looking fresh, vibrant and reduce the appearance of my rosacea. They are painful and expensive, but worth it. I'm also still doing botox. I've had a few botched jobs and am a little turned off, but I think it's about finding the right dermatologist..

My hair is finally back to normal. I suffered from botched hair for two years and it was a struggle. The silver lining is that I tried too many hair care products and shared my thoughts on b.a.gorgie.com. I hope my product reviews helped a few of you. Surprisingly, I introduced a new shampoo and conditioner to the routine in 2018. My long-time favorite Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil shampoo and conditioner still have a permanent spot in the shower, but now I'm alternating with Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance shampoo and No. 5 Bond Maintenance conditioner. This stuff is amazing!

I tried Coolsculpting and got "minimal results". Highly disappointing. After waiting four months for maximum results and feeling like I spent too much money and wasted my time, I decided to start working out (there are no shortcuts). I also changed my eating habits. I'm eating healthier and smaller portions. I'm proud to say, I've lost 14 lbs. YUP! It was a slow process (took an entire year)! I have another 6 lbs to go and am hoping to get a MIRROR Home Gym in the 2019. HINT HINT.. I'm also considering the new fat reducing procedure Vanquish. I'll let ya know how it goes.

My favorite body wash and creams are Sol de Janeiro and Aveeno (for those sensitive days). The caramel-pistachio scent of Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum body cream, Brazilian Crush body mist and Brazilian 4 Play moisturizing shower cream-gel are delicious! This cosmetic brand has made a few appearances on the blog and still reigns supreme.

That's my favorite cosmetics, procedures, fashion brands and style diary for 2018. I'm still a cosmetic junkie and am obsessed with shoes and handbags. I have a few trips in 2019 and am already planning my outfits..

KKW Beauty

May 24, 2018

Admittedly, I was hesitant about KKW Beauty. Of course the Kardashian clan would launch a thoughtful makeup line, but I'm not fan and am reluctant to support their world take-over. Eventually, I gave in and.. My first purchase included the KKW Beauty Powder Contour & Highlight Kit and Créme Liquid Lipstick Collection. I gotta say, the packaging is my favorite part (nice colors and good quality). AND the products are high quality too. Clearly the tribe of successful stylists and talented makeup artists surrounding the Kardashians had a lot of input in KKW Beauty.

I don't like lipgloss - AT ALL! It's often too sticky and I'm not a fan of shinny lips. The KKW Beauty Crème Liquid Lipstick Collection may look like gloss and comes in a 'lipgloss' tube with a doe foot applicator - it's definitely not a gloss. The Crème Liquid Lipstick has sheer to medium coverage, is creamy and non-sticky. This hydrating lipstick feels light on your lips. There are four colors - Kimberly, Kim, Kiki and Kimmie (she's not vain!).

The 'Kimberly' lipstick is a true nude and too light for me. I like barely-there makeup, but this color washes out my complexion. The 'Kim' lipstick is a light, peachy nude AND again, too light. The 'Kiki' lipstick is a pale, rose-tone and also very light. The 'Kimmie' lipstick is a deep nude. I like this one - it has a slight coral color to it and suits my complexion nicely. Of course, these shades will look different on everyone. Sheer lipsticks compliment your natural lip color, resulting in different effects on different people. I like this product, but am a little bummed that I'm stuck with three Créme Liquid Lipsticks that I will never use.

I like the KKW Beauty Powder Contour & Highlight Kit. The thoughtful packaging is sleek (good for travel) and dons the signature pinkish-nude shade, along with a huge mirror (love the mirror). The pans are large, so while this palette is expensive, you're getting a lot of product. The Powder Contour & Highlight Kit comes in three color combinations - light, medium and dark/deep dark.

I have pale skin, so I opted for the light kit. There is a lot of pigment in these powders - A LOT! The two matte contour shades have super-high pigment, but blend nicely. I suggest applying a little, blend and repeat until you get your desired look. The buildable powders are soft and kinda creamy. There is a lot of powder fall-off. The big pans are useful, cause you will loose a lot of product - I take back my 'you're getting a lot of product' comment.

The Contour I - Light Tan is a bit too warm for my skin tone. Maybe if I was tanned, this would work for me. The Contour II - Mid Tone Beige is suitable for my skin tone. I don't know how KKW Beauty came up with the name 'Mid Tone Beige'. This shade is nowhere close to being beige - it's a pale brown. I like the color. It is however a bit dark, so be careful not to apply too much. I'm not really a contour kinda girl, but a little around the hairline and jawline does amp up my barely-there makeup.

The Highlight I - Soft Champagne is a light shade, but there is a lot of pigment and it will give you serious highlight. I've seen bloggers with darker skin tones apply this highlighter and it looks too light, but on pale skin, it looks nice. Again, apply a little and blend. I like the Highlight II - Soft Peach more. Peach and coral shades look nice on my pale skin and compliment my black color-treated hair. This shade will run out long before the other powders.

I've read mixed reviews about the Duo Brush I and most beauty bloggers don't seem to like it. I really like this duo brush. It's pretty and the bristles are soft and dense. I think the brushes are a bit to big for highlighting and contouring, but I've found other uses for them. The rounded brush and angled brush can be removed - It is my understanding that KKW Beauty will release additional sponges and brushes that can be attached to the handle. Detaching the brushes is a bit challenging and may cause damage to the bristles over time.

The downside to many of the KKW Beauty products is that they are only available in kits. You're gonna end up with shades you don't like and this stuff is expensive! Albeit, I went on to purchase more KKW Beauty products. Stay tuned..

Brand Obsession - Unravel Project

March 27, 2018

I'm a self-proclaimed professional web browser. Every morning, I peruse all my favorite fashion and beauty sites 'new arrivals' section. I have a massive library of clothing, accessories and beauty products stored in my brain at any given time. Every now and then I come across a new brand and get a little obsessed. My latest brand obsession is Unravel Project. This streetwear brand consists of deconstructed wardrobe essentials. The distressed fabrics and unique detailing take an otherwise basic staple and make it modern-chic.

I'm already obsessed with sweatshirts and LOVE the Unravel Project styles - they are anything but boring. This light-pink, cotton, oversized Terry hoodie (available at Farfetch) is kinda basic, but the color is everything (I LOVE PINK). The relaxed fit looks super cozy and the oversized sleeves are on-trend.

The Unravel Project white, hooded, cut-out jumper (available at Farfetch) is a bit more interesting and my favorite. I have a similar sweater (with less of a cut out) by Kendall + Kylie and get so many compliments when I wear it. This oversized cutout is perfect for showing off a graphic tank or if you're super fit and fashion forward, a suitable bra (sports bra'ish'). The sleeves are oversized, creating a slouchy affect. I WANT!

The Unravel Project flared, hooded sweater (available at Farfetch) has a similar shape to the light-pink oversized hoodie, but this shade of pale, minty-green is gorgeous. The shoulder cut-out is unique and little sexy. I would don this style in a larger size, so the open shoulder is apparent. LOVE.

Me and sweatshirts go together like cereal and milk - throw in some distressed detailing and I'm a happy girl. A light-pink, distressed sweatshirt (available at Farfetch) is perfection! I would wear this sweatshirt in larger size, so the oversized crew neck shows off a little décolletage. I'm loving this brand, but it's expensive AF, so I'm gonna take inspiration and browse the web for similar styles to appease my sweatshirt obsession.

The Perfect Gifts List 2017

December 12, 2017

Admittedly, there's a few 'to me, from me' gifts under the tree this year, AND a few that didn't even make it to the tree! I'm a self-proclaimed gifting master and every year I buy myself awesome gifts. Here's a 'Perfect Gifts List' for the shopaholic, tea lovin', cosmetic junkie in your life..

The perfect gift starts with great wrapping paper, bows and tags. Choose a color scheme and get creative - I like black, white, red, silver and gold. I purchased these gift tags by eighty seventh ST. last year. This year, I also have 'No Peeking' tags, and HUGE 'From Santa' and 'Merry Christmas' tags in black and gold. The array of gift wrapping under my tree should be displayed in a department store - if I do say so myself.

Christmas tree ornaments are the perfect gift for the 'I'm obsessed with Christmas' person in your life. I LOVE Christmas and each year I receive a new champagne ornament. Pier One Imports has the best ornaments. Every holiday they release new ones, but kinda stick with the theme they've had previous years - Christmas penguins, owls and lots of sparkly tree splash.

Gift cards are the ultimate gift. I like giving and receiving gift cards (hint hint). You still have that moment when you exchange gifts, BUT the idea keeps on giving.. You get to shop your favorite store or if your lucky enough to get an AMEX or VISA gift card, you can shop anywhere.

I know some people think gift cards are not personal and denote a lack of effort - So opt for a unique card holder. I purchased this faux-fur pouch at Pier One Imports. I love anything furry. Yes, this gift is for me. From my gift giving experience, people love to receive gift cards.

Of course I have some beauty products on my list. This Amika Polished Perfection Mini Straightening Brush is unique and inexpensive. This small thermal straightening brush is great for touch-ups and on-the-go styling. There is a full-size version of this hairbrush-straightener, but I like the mini size better. This heated tool won't give you results like a traditional straightener, but does minimize frizz, leaves your hair shiny and is great for travel.

I LOVE the Peaches and Cream Collection by Too Faced. These products are infused with peach and sweet fig cream. Who wouldn't want peach scented makeup. Too Faced should produce a body cream with this scent..

The Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick is a velvety formula that feels creamy and gives you a matte look. Oh, and it smells like Strawberry Shortcake (the doll). LOVE.

The peach scent of the Peach Frost Melting Powder Highlighter is delicious. The highlighter feels creamy to touch, but glides on seamlessly, and transforms into a powder on your skin. The peachy, gold-tone is warm and gives you a nice glow.

The Peach My Cheeks Melting Powder Blush is a cream to powder product as well. The product is nice and goes on smooth - I recommend applying it with a kabuki brush or your fingers.

Too Faced Translucent Finishing Powder is a peach-colored powder that smoothes imperfections and gives you a nice warm look. The powder contains optical-correcting spheres - for a luminescent finish, but gives you a warm, matte look.

Too Faced Sweet Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer looks and smells like a delicious pie. This is not a contouring bronzer, but rater an all over, radiance-boosting bronzer. I use it on my face, neck and décolleté.

For the makeup loving, product junkie in your life, anything from this collection will do.

Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir is on my 'Perfect Gifts List' again this year. This beauty oil has forever changed my makeup routine and enhanced my look dramatically. I apply my foundation with a brush. Then I apply 'many' drops of the elixir to my damp beautyblender and gently blend my foundation for perfect coverage. I use the same beautyblender (and Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir) to blend my concealer, under eye brightener and cream-to-powder highlighter. This elixir is amazing. Sephora recently added the Farsáli lineup to their shelves. This Rose Gold Elixir is available in two sizes - 15 ml and 30 ml.

My list wouldn't be complete without tea products. I'm obsessed with tea - I drink five to seven cups a day. This 24 Days of Tea Set by Davids Tea was on my wishlist, but I was worried the limited edition would sell out, so I bought it for myself! Anyone who likes tea will love this set of 24 popular tea blends. Davids Tea has smaller tea sets as well. I'm hoping someone buys me the 'Best of 2017' set.

The Best of 2017

December 06, 2017

The pistachio-caramel scent of Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream is AMAZING! The scent is strong but sweet and intriguing. The cream is super-nourishing and has a slight shimmer that gives your skin a subtle glow.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist is the same yummy scent of the cream but in a light body mist. The original bottle is HUGE and now there's a mini (which is still kinda big). You're gonna want to surround yourself with this scent.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuacu Lip Butter is one of my favorite lip balms - I have one in my bathroom, one at my computer and one in my handbag! The light, creamy texture is nourishing and the tube is BIG, so it will last a long time. If I had to choose my favorite new Cosmetic brand of 2017, it would be Sol Janeiro Brazilian.

If you've been living under a rock, you probably haven't heard of Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir. This product is up there with Sugarbearhair and (well) any of the multitude of detox teas taking over Instagram. It's worth its weight in gold! This beauty oil has forever changed my makeup routine and enhanced my look dramatically. I apply 'many' drops of the elixir to my damp beautyblender and gently blend my foundation, concealer, under eye brightener and cream-to-powder highlighter. This elixir is amazing. It's available in two sizes - the mini is perfect for travel.

This is intense hydration - Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream is a concentrated 30 percent hyaluronic acid cream. If water was creamy- this would be it. It's so refreshing and leaves your skin feeling silky and super-nourished. The non-greasy cream absorbs fairly quickly (a little goes a long way), and doesn't leave your skin shiny. Water Drench Hyaluronic Cream is available in two sizes.

Luxury hairstyling brand, IGK, was founded by in-demand stylists from Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. YOU GOTTA VIEW THESE GUYS ONLINE! These stylists are really fascinating. I'd fly across the country and break the bank to get an appointment with any of these stylists. I LOVE the IGK product line. I have too many IGK products in full-size and travel size. Product junkie here!

IGK Prenup Instant Spray Hair Mask is my favorite. The 360 aerosol spray allows for easy application. The scent is delicious, and your hair will feel nourished and silky after just one minute. I use this mask every time I wash my strands. This hydrating hair mask is a MUST HAVE!

Sephora's soothing Coconut Water Lip Balm is another one of my favorite balms. The scent is delicious and the product feels nourishing on your lips. This balm is available in Goji, Rose, Tangerine, Almond and Coconut Water.

Sephora Honey Lip Scrub is amazing! When I first applied the scrub, I thought this isn't working - how can a balm exfoliate your lips. After a few vigorous applications I reached the grains inside. I rub the balm in circular motions on my lips until they're drenched in product, then I use my finger and massage the grains onto my lips. The result - smooth lips in seconds. It tastes good too - not that you should eat it, but scrubs tend to get in your mouth. LOVE!

November 17, 2017

I've had many cosmetic subscriptions in the past. The first box was always exciting, but as the months pass, the products seem to become less interesting 'drug store' brands. There's nothing wrong with drug store cosmetics, BUT that's not what I signed up for. I always end up cancelling the subscription after a few months.

Until now.. PLAY! by Sephora has taken 'cosmetic subscriptions' to a higher level of standard. Play! is my favorite beauty box subscription. I've been receiving these little collectible bags of goodies for eight months and have no plans to cancel. There are no drug store brands in this program. Every product is from the Sephora lineup. Each month you receive five deluxe makeup, skincare and haircare samples, AND a bonus fragrance sample.

Play! by Sephora The Iconic Edition was a limited edition beauty box. This one was for purchase only and not a part of the monthly Play! subscription. The gold-tone zipper pouch contained premier cosmetic brand samples Dior, Guerlain, Yves Saint Laurent, La Mer and Burberry. Not sure if you're familiar with La Mer, but that stuff is EXPENSIVE! This deluxe sample alone made The Iconic Edition worth the purchase.

Each month you'll receive five deluxe samples of best-selling products at Sephora. I usually keep two or three and share the rest with friends. A girl can only hoard so much. I can open a Sephora pop-up shop with all the products I have tucked away (they're hidden so no-one sees my addiction and takes my credit card away)!

The excitement of opening the box, getting your little collectible bag and stellar deluxe samples makes my day. It's like a 'Cosmetic Christmas' every month. AND these deluxe samples are amazing.

I'm always happy to see my favorite brands - Bumble and Bumble, Benefit, Sol Janeiro, MILK, (I'd like to see some Too Faced products..), but new brands and cosmetics are welcome. This program allows you to try new cosmetics you would necessarily buy. Most of us are creatures of habit, and hey, if it ain't broken don't fix it! BUT, sometimes change is good and you'd be surprised at what your missing by sticking to the same old brands you've been using for way too long.

Each beauty box contains a little, draw-string bag with beauty-inspired sayings and prints. I love these little collectible bags. They're great for gifts. I also use them when I pack, they're perfect for organizing little things in my suitcase.

Each box contains a Play! Book with tips, product descriptions and how-tos. Your subscription gives you exclusive access to how-to videos and tutorials on Sephora.com. You can also view the current (and past) Play! boxes online.

You will receive a PLAY! Pass - 50 bonus Beauty Insider points. You can redeem these points when you purchase products in-store. Since Sephora introduced Rewards Bazaar, Beauty Insider points are invaluable. The revised rewards program drops amazing one-of-a-kind experiences, services from Sephora, as well as other top brands, and deluxe-size samples and sets every Tuesday and Thursday. I'm banking my points for something great.

Each month there is a subscriber-only event. Play! Date allows you and a friend to come in-store to play with products and meet Sephora beauty experts.

Play! by Sephora has so much to offer.. AND best of all, it's $10 a month! Yup, that's it. You would have to spend $50 to gain 50 Beauty Insider points - you're getting 50 bonus points each month, five deluxe beauty samples, a perfume sample, AND exclusive access to events. DROP THE MIC!

November 24, 2017 - OK, I'm browsing Sephora.com one week after I posted about Play! by Sephora - AND you can purchase these little bags of beauty products for $10 on Sephora.com. These boxes are exclusive, limited edition and online only.

In the spirit of award season, I'm presenting b.a.gorgie beauty product awards to cosmetics I recently discovered and absolutely luv!

Sephora Ultimate Oil-in-Gel Lipstick Remover quickly removes lipstick and lip stains without harsh rubbing. This product is excellent! I wear lip stains often and usually the red and pink stain is still visible days later despite my efforts to scrub it off. This oil-in-gel lipstick remover immediately erases lip color, leaving your lips soft and clean.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine is my new favorite lipstick. The colors are vibrant, slightly shiny and the creamy lipstick allows for easy application. Most importantly, this lipstick doesn't dry your lips. I luv the lipstick casing design - it's unique, pretty and what attracted me to this product.

I know I keep talking about Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish, but it's because this product is amazing. This styling spray adds texture and volume to hair, smells good and comes in a mini purse size for on-the-go touchups. Trust me - you will luv this product.

Bumble and Bumble All-Style Blowdry - This styling product has micro oil-absorbing powders that extend the life of your blow-dry by one day (maybe even two). It adds volume, smells great and leaves your hair feeling clean and fresh.

Givenchy Mister Perfect Instant Makeup Eraser is a makeup removing marker that allows you to correct mistakes on your lips and eyes. No more struggling with q-tips...this remover has a slanted tip for precision removal.

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow adds color and makes your eyebrows appear thicker. I usually fill-in my eyebrows with a dark eyeshadow and will most likely continue this method for full-makeup looks, but for day to day I'm using Gimme Brow.

Congratulations on your b.a.gorgie beauty product awards!

Christmas Cosmetics

December 07, 2014

Christmas inspired cosmetics are the perfect stocking stuffer. It's all about the theme, so products that are Christmas red, green and gold. Limited edition Christmas themed beauty products like Bliss Peppermint High Intensity hand cream, Philosophy "Have a Cherry Christmas" shower gel, and a red bath lilly from The Body Shop are practical and festive.

Christmas themed beauty products also make for a fun, thoughtful gift. Any girl will appreciate festive hand creams, lip balms and body wash. For the finishing touch, include a super cute Christmas ornament (Shop Pier One Imports).
